What a great month! We are close to 200.000 overall downloads (more than 90.000 downloads just this month) and the downloadable translation feature is going also great! We are happy to share with you the first two complete translations which are Romanian by Soreen and Turkish by Erkan and can now be downloaded for free. A quick status report is also here for the next release which should be out in a month and then I can promise we will start something that you all will like.

 

jCore can now also be found on Github with all the latest changes awaiting for your testings, also don't be shy to fork jCore and commit back your ideas/fixes. I'm committing all the changes of the new versions daily so when a feature or a fix is in these get committed immediately and be ready for you to play around almost instantly.

Changes for ver. 0.8

The current changes that have been implemented for the new version and can be found on Git include:

  • Fixed invalid ajax requests to display a nice error message
  • Fixed check all posts in Moving Posts to only check boxes that belong to the selected list
  • Fixed deleting dynamic form field
  • Fixed quick search if SEO_FRIENDLY_LINKS disabled
  • Added Orders summary page aka Dashboard which can be used to check sales, most viewed products, bestsellers and orders within a specified date range
  • Added option to search/limit shopping orders list by status
  • Added option to search posts/shopping items list in admin
  • Fixed picasa gallery paging when ajax paging turned on
  • Added possibility to define the Owner of posts, file sharing folders, photo galleries, polls, shopping categories / items and video galleries
  • Added nice error message if dynamic form has no fields with Value Type set but set to save data to DB
  • Added manual gettext support (https://launchpad.net/php-gettext/) to have jCore work on systems that don't have the gettext extension activated.
  • Added check for mod_rewrite and if not found deactivate SEO_FRIENDLY_LINKS on install.

and here are those that are currently under development and will be included with the next release:

  • Posts at glance (or Quick posts) where you will find all the posts and be able to create new ones just like you do on other CMS-es and select from a nice dropdown list the menu item/page you would like to add it to
  • Add template export possibility which will allow you to create new installable jCore templates with a push of a button and port it over easily to any other jCore website or why not release it to the public :)
  • Add user tracking system
  • Add user groups with group permissions
  • Add newsletter lists description
  • Add option to automatically activate new user registrations without the need of an email verification
  • Add referer tracking and add the referer links to the shopping order details so you can track from where your buying customers are coming from
  • Automatic email responses when dynamic form completed and submitted and allow to define emails Subject and Body
  • Add paginating to Galleries / Folders for photo/video gallery and file sharing modules, also let them be sorted by TimeStamp if Order ID is the same.
  • Add icon/preview picture caching for Video and Photo galleries if YouTube or Picasa used so the galleries will be loaded instantly

The forum is also going well more than 3000 members, also more and more active supporters who are willing to help you with your questions, we also now have a Facebook page where you can follow the latest news and once the new release 0.8 is out we have some great plans to give you even more motivation to get your coding hands dirty with the jCore code :)

More translations are also in the working and they will be made available for download as they come in but don't hesitate to help if you can by Downloading the English translation package and committing your own, or by helping out others with their translation process in the Forum.
